John
and Elizabeth Hugo create wine from their estate vineyard, situated in
the foothills above McLaren Vale. The vineyard was established by
John's father Colin Hugo in 1950, and in 1970 his son John came into the
family business exerting new influence and ideas in vineyard management.
The soils are predominately red loam over a subsoil of clay. Annual rainfall is around 650mm, excellent for producing premium quality wines. Totally run and owned by John and Elizabeth Hugo, the wines are produced only from grapes grown on their estate vineyard.
