A
group of twelve established grapegrowers and winemakers dedicated to
excellence in winemaking in The
concept of Eden Valley growers and winemakers coming together in a
co-operative effort to preserve the integrity of the name Eden Valley
and a one hundred and fifty year old regional reputation was born
in July 2002, when the opportunity arose to purchase the Eden Valley
Wines trademark and intellectural property. Stephen
Henschke and the Irvines were joined in a winning bid by Bob Berton,
John Dawkins, David Hall, Trevor March, Peter Seppelt, Richard Sheedy,
Brian Waples, Richard Wiencke and Ian Zander. The syndicate refers
itself casually as the “Twelve Apostles” or the “Dirty Dozen”,
depending on circumstances. The
syndicate’s guiding principle is that its wines will be made only from
super-premium parcels of the members’ fruit showing the best possible
