“A New Benchmark - Eden Valley Wines”

EDEN VALLEY , SOUTH AUSTRALIA www.edenvalleywines.com.au

A group of twelve established grapegrowers and winemakers dedicated to excellence in winemaking in Eden Valley has released two benchmark wines. The wines are made by syndicate members Stephen Henschke and James and Joanne Irvine from the best fruit grown by the group.

The concept of Eden Valley growers and winemakers coming together in a co-operative effort to preserve the integrity of the name Eden Valley and a one hundred and fifty year old regional reputation was born in July 2002, when the opportunity arose to purchase the Eden Valley Wines trademark and intellectural property.

Stephen Henschke and the Irvines were joined in a winning bid by Bob Berton, John Dawkins, David Hall, Trevor March, Peter Seppelt, Richard Sheedy, Brian Waples, Richard Wiencke and Ian Zander. The syndicate refers itself casually as the “Twelve Apostles” or the “Dirty Dozen”, depending on circumstances.

The syndicate’s guiding principle is that its wines will be made only from super-premium parcels of the members’ fruit showing the best possible characteristics of Eden Valley . The member winemakers will verify the wines as being of exceptional quality and regional character.
